"Hurry the Jug" in Gaelic "Cuir Tart an Cruiscin" also known as "Once on a Morning of Sweet<br> Recreation" is an Irish set dance in 6/8 time and E Minor. The parts are played AB (Joyce), AAB<br> (Roche), AABB (O'Neill) or AABC (Kennedy).<br> "Hurry the Jug" was learned by music collector and writer P.W. Joyce as a boy in Limerick in the<br> 1840's. It was also entered into the mid-19th century music manuscript collection of County Cork<br> uilleann piper and Church of Ireland cleric James Goodman. A later form of the tune is the<br> song/tune "Lanigan's Ball". The second strain is twice the length of the 'A'; not untypical for<br> set dances. <br> It was printed in Joyce's Old Irish Folk Music and Songs (1909),<br> Kennedy's Jigs & Quicksteps, Trips & Humours (1997),<br> O'Neill's Dance Music of Ireland: 1001 Gems (1907) and<br> Roche's Collection of Traditional Irish Music, vol. 3 (1927). <br> It was recorded by Eugene O'Donnoll on Slow Airs and Set Dances (1978),<br> Bobby Casey on Casey in the Cowhouse (1992) (Originally recorded 1959) and<br> Brian Conway & Tony De Marco on The Apple in Winter (1981).<br>
